The Restaurant
Named Top 50 Veg Restaurant in America (Forbes), Fig + Farro was a non-judgmental place for people to enjoy plant-based food. Partnering with Trees.org, we planted over 70,000 trees to help with carbon sequestration. In 2019 we were part of a business delegation to the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP24) and later published a lookbook to chronicle our work in food and climate. We closed in 2020 but continue our mission today through plant-based activations and pop-ups.
The Mission
Animal agriculture accounts for about 25% of all greenhouse gases. While carbon dioxide is the main contributor to greenhouse gases, methane and nitrous oxide are 25x and 300x, respectively, more powerful than CO2. This is why Bill Gates recently announced that “if cows were a country, they’d be the third largest emitter of greenhouse gases”. If all Americans ate one less meat meal every week, it would be the annual equivalent to taking 1,000,000 cars off the roads annually. -National Resources Defense Council
Future Fig
Join us in our effort to bring delicious plant-based meals to restaurants, schools and businesses around the world. Summer 2022 we will be launching a national ghost kitchen concept called Carbon Citizen. Collectively we can make significant change, one bite at a time.
